Award Night Celebrations and a few blushes…

What a great city Liverpool is, and she didn’t let us down last night! The newly refurbished Titanic Hotel was host to the MIB 2016 Business Awards, one of the highlights of the Merseyside Social Calendar.

People in Liverpool know how to party and the Rum Warehouse was beautifully decorated, making all the attendees feel more like we were in Hollywood than the historic Liverpool Docks.

The Merseyside Independent Business Awards were set up by Morecrofts Solicitors  in 2013 to celebrate the 200th Anniversary of the independent business. From one person businesses to large employers, the awards cover 13 categories. My award nomination was for Independent Business Person of the Year, sponsored by Wesleyan Bank

It’s a big deal to be nominated for awards like this, but to be shortlisted and be able to attend the event is a massive buzz – and a new outfit opportunity of course. I was up with some pretty mega businesses too, all with well deserved nominations with a great story to tell

Mark Hensby – Liverpool Organic Brewery

Gavin Sherratt – Studio Mashbo

Jon Kelly – Meet & Potato

Matthew Farrell, John Ennis and Nick Thomas – Graffiti Spirits

When the announcement came… it wasn’t me. I didn’t win! The very smart and clever Gavin Sherratt (Studio Mashbo) did. To be honest I didn’t expect to win and was just grateful to be considered. But then, out of the blue came a call to the stage…. I had been given a Special Commendation!

So there it is folks, sometimes great things can happen when you least expect them.

Thank you so much to the judging panel who thought me worthy of this individual recognition…. it wasn’t just the Sauvignon blanc or my age that was making me flush.

Helen
